Vukovar – Croatia

Single grain of sand. Collected in Vukovar. During the civil war in the 1990s, Vukovar was heavily attacked and more or less brutally destroyed. Hence the name: Croatia’s Stalingrad.

The individual grain of sand is magnified under a microscope, illuminated through double Polaroid series photography called “stacking”; it consists of around 125 individual images.

This is how the colors of the minerals appear.
