The Spirit of Sand

This video explores my many years of work with grains of sand collected around the world. I have included a recording of my own guitar improvisation. I hope that the underlying music can help open up some of the poetry and beauty I think can be found, among other things, when science and physics come together with aesthetics, nature and what we as humans sense purely intuitively. When scientific structures and systems such as the wavelengths of colors, the magnification of grains of sand in ingenious devices and a system of notes, when music helps open up the immediate. I am interested in the balance and meeting points between systems of knowledge and our human perception and our spontaneous, sometimes overwhelming experience of the natural phenomena around us.
