This photo series is a sociological anthropological document…And what is it?

I try to depict people, living conditions, relationship to surroundings all at once. You can’t do that, but

I do it, as Pippi Longstocking would say.

Image 1 shows the bridge.

About 2-3,000 meters up in the Andes, northern Argentina. The town nearby is called Tilcara, about 2,500

inhabitants.

The place has “always” been a transit point, used by the indigenous population, later the Incas, the Spaniards,

and now the government. Transport of minerals and food. Always contradictions between the indigenous

Indian population, and the changing rulers. Both the Incas and the Spaniards were harsh and greedy on

all human levels.

One of the original residents brings her children and herself to safety. The bridge is the connecting link.

The individual parts

The bridge is marked by thousands of steps, feet, different vehicles. Marks in the woodwork, the nails,

the repairs. That is what is depicted in the pictures. People’s walk, toil, sacrifices.

Technically, all pictures except 1 and 2 are composed of several, “stacking”.

Several of the works have been exhibited at censored exhibitions.
